LIFE Groups

What’s a LIFE Group?

LIFE Groups are small groups of people (we aim for around 12) who meet together on a weekly basis with the goal of authentic and real Christian community among the believers at Cornerstone Ministries. These groups meet throughout the year, but occasionally take breaks. Check our website to find out schedules for each group, or call our church office @ 707-252-2909.
We recognize everyone’s need to foster and develop better opportunities for community among believers. LIFE Groups are our attempt to provide opportunities for deeper fellowship.
e same old mid-week service, but rather an attempt to try something new and see where God would lead us.

Isn’t Sundays Good Enough?

Maybe you’re thinking “isn’t Sunday Mornings good enough?” We are thrilled to see people at church on Sunday Mornings; coming together to pray, worship, and study the Bible. This is the number one event on our calendar and we can’t recommend regular Sunday Church attendance enough.
But, church was never meant to be something that people just attend. The Church is the “Body of Christ.” That means it’s a living, breathing thing, and we don’t just live and breathe for a few hours on a Sunday Morning. Good families are built on relationship, and God’s family (the church) is no different. Sunday Mornings are like when we all get together for one giant family meal. LIFE Groups as well as all the other ministries, meetings, and events at Cornerstone during the week are the church equivalent of going to a baseball game or helping paint your sister’s living room. We are doing life together as the Church has always been meant to do, but in way that’s been sadly lost in many places.
Sunday Mornings can’t replace the real community and relationships that are created in LIFE Groups and LIFE Groups can’t replace the gathering of the saints together. They are all needed, necessary and for our spiritual health and blessing.

WHEN DO THEY MEET?
LIFE Groups meet throughout the week. They also occasionally take breaks, but then resume again. For meeting times, check our website calendar, or call the church office @ 707-252-2909.

WHY SHOULD I BE IN ONE?
Going to church on Sunday is great! There isn’t anything like coming together as a church to worship God together. But Sunday’s aren’t the best venue for growing in our relationships together as a church family. To that end, there are three great reasons to be in a LIFE Group: Relationship. Accountability. Community.
Relationship: If you don’t spend time with people, you’ll never get to know them. How can we fulfill all of the “one another” verses in the Bible (Love, comfort, forgive, serve, submit, and so on) if we don’t know anyone at church in a meaningful way?
Accountability: The truth is that the pastors of a church are often the last to hear when someone in the church has gone spiritually sideways. If there’s something wrong in my life, my faith, my marriage or family, the people I have the closest relationship to will be the first to know, and have the loudest voice to speak into my life. We were never meant to be “long-ranger” Christians and LIFE Groups provide a means of real, natural and organic accountability.
Community: The people in LIFE Groups do ministry together. The people in LIFE Groups do Life together. It’s easier to help someone move when you know them. It’s easier to rally people for a specific ministry when you have a relationship. LIFE Groups are natural conduits for us to express our faith outside the church in love and service.

HOW CAN I JOIN?
Some LIFE Groups have open invitation and any age or gender can attend. Others are designed for 20 Somethings, or Men or Women. Check our website and contact the LIFE group leader for more details. You can also call our church office @ 707-252-2909.
